The tools calculate from figures you enter. They do not predict prices or choose a hotel for you.
Hotel comparison
Room subtotal = nights × rooms × nightly rate
Nightly fees = nights × rooms × fee per room-night
Tax = selected taxable base × tax percentage ÷ 100
Quote total = room subtotal + nightly fees + one-off booking fee + tax
Comparison total = quote total × manual FX rate
The tax base can be room price alone, room price plus nightly fees, or all entered charges. The one-off fee applies once to the whole booking. Set an already-included tax or fee to zero to avoid adding it again. Different quote and comparison currencies require a positive manual exchange rate. For the same currency, leave FX blank or enter 1.
Trip budget
Subtotal = transport + accommodation + food + activities/other
Contingency = subtotal × chosen percentage ÷ 100
Total = subtotal + contingency
Equal share = total ÷ party size
Per-person daily share = total ÷ party size ÷ trip days
All category amounts cover the entire group and trip. A calendar travel day is different from a hotel night. The split is an equal budgeting allowance, not a record of who owes whom.
Precision and limits
Monetary inputs allow up to two decimal places; calculated components and outputs use two-decimal planning precision. Providers and currencies may use other rounding conventions. Equal rounded shares may leave a small remainder. Tax rates are limited to 0–100%, rooms and people to 1–100, nights and days to 1–3,650, each entered amount to 100 million and calculated amounts to one trillion. Manual FX accepts 0.000001–1,000,000. This model does not handle compounded, tiered or per-person taxes automatically.
Sources and editorial approach
The arithmetic and examples are original. Linked official sources give context for fee transparency, currency costs and booking conditions. U.S. FTC material is identified as U.S.-specific. Local rules and individual booking contracts can differ.
